The Simple Woman's Daybook - 01

For today --
Outside My Window... the sun has set. Dusk is falling. Sweaty kids are laughing as they put away their bikes and toys.

I am thinking... about how dirty my happy children are. I need to run a bath.

I am thankful for... summer. Being able to take a vacation trip to see my family. And being back home again.

From the kitchen... tonight we had the left-overs of last night's amazing dinner. My brother, sister-in-law, neice & nephew, were here for two days. My husband and I worked together to prepare a japanese stir-fry.

I am wearing... jean shorts, red t-shirt, pony-tail, barefoot

I am creating... some new blog features. A list of busy activity ideas for my soon-to-be 2 yr old to do while I am homeschooling his sister this fall. Another list I just realized I need to be creating is a some ideas for my daughter's birthday...only a month away!

I am going... to re-plan and re-organize our schedule & routines this week. Begin preparing for fall - curriculum, getting up earlier, chore charts, etc...

I am reading... Rainbow's End - by Irene Hannon. A little Love Inspired book my mom gave me while I was there last week.

I am hoping...for a blessed night of rest tonight. My body has been struggling/fighting against a sinus/head cold; leaving me drained. (no pun intended)

I am hearing... the humming of a fan. My dear husband beginning to softly snore.

Around the house... we got it mostly picked up before bedtime. Dishwasher is scrubbing away. Sink is shined....thanks to the flylady :)

One of my favorite things... warm chocolate cake with french vanilla ice cream on top. (another leftover from last night. so NOT needed...but ohhh yummy)

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week: voting in our primary election, library time tomorrow morning. I need to study and prepare for teaching my pre-k class at church wed night. Our homeschool group's annual picnic.

Here is picture thought I am sharing...

I love your outlook on life. You see and enjoy the simple things in life. You must live in the country. :) Of course the grass always seems greener on the other side, but we are dealinig with football practice M-F for the whole month of august. The thought is exhausting and John and I bargain over who is going to go and sit for 2 hours at the end of an exhausting day.

I loved reading your blog tonight. Helps me to remember to remember the good things in my life.

Wow. Marlayna, thank you for your kind words about my blog/perspective. I strive daily to be content and enjoy the simple things...we really have so many little blessings that could be over-looked because we get so busy. I actually don't live in the country! It is my dream though. Someday. Am actually in a tiny two-story townhouse (sorta like a condo/apt) with a shared backyard. After fighting against it (living here)for so long, I am allowing God to fill me with peace, & joy, & contentment. Its certainly a daily journey!!

Julie, we are in the same boat. I do not like where I Live and fought it over and over again, talked about moving all the time. And one day I just found peace with it. I have learned to be happy with my house, find the good things about where I live and so on. I hope I didn't offend you by saying you live in the country, I just meant your outlook reminded me of it. My husband grew up in a town of 200 people and I just long for that lifestyle. Have a great day. :)

no offense at all marlayna :) I actually loved that you thought that....if I sound that way, maybe I am in a better place of contentment than I thought! I am certainly a country girl at heart and continue to pray for that door to open up for us. In God's time...
