Perspective

Yesterday, Logan informed me as to why God made his feet.
"So I can walk. And so I can WIGGLE! And jump!"

What perspective. And reasoning.

He is probably more right-on than I would have been.
Which got me to thinking about the other two...

God created feet for six year-old girls so that they may dance & TWIRL.

And do cartwheels. And wear mommy's high-heels.

God created little chubby feet for six month old girls to JUMP.

And to be tickled and KISSED!

Five Question Friday

Its time for some fun questions with....

1. Do you sing karaoke? If so, what is your go to song?
would you believe I NEVER have?! Seriouslly!!
Now that's not to say I never had the opportunity! haha
However, knowing that I was not blessed in the musically talented department....(I cannot carry a tune, much like my mother. though the rest of the fam is all blessed with pickin' and singin' abilities :(...I have always chickened-out.
Secretly, I have always dreamed that I would get up and sing...and yes it would still stink...but (much like in "My Best Friend's Wedding") everyone would join in with praise & admiration at my bravery and likeable fun-side.
Since I am dubious it would be like the movies....I continue to sit quietly in my chair.

2. What is your favorite coffee drink?
Mmmm coffee. I exist on coffee. With lots of sugar and cream. Hot & steamy...or iced.
I think my fave is White Chocolate Raspberry Cappuccino or the Blackberry Blossom that our little local Djangos whips up.
The frugal me can get by on whatever kind of beans we have at home...with a splash of flavored non-dairy creamer :)

3. If you could choose your own name, what would it be?
I've never had a problem with my name....if I had of been a boy, Mom says I would have been Michael. (thankful I wasnt a boy!)
I would probably name myself Elle or Elise, maybe Lindy. Its actually pretty weird to think about! Me with any other name would not be as sweet. teeheehee

4. Were you ever bullied?
Does sibling rivalry count?!!?

5. How often do you eat fast food?
Not too often, honestly. Maybe 2 or 3 times a month. Though there are those weeks/months that exceed the average!
And usually its a playdate at McDonalds.
(the only indoor play area where we can go thru the winter. Has saved my sanity on more than one occasion, let me tell you!)

Mondays Simple Womans Daybook

For Today: Feb 8th 2009

Outside my window...more snow is falling. Big fluffy flakes. Melting fast.

I am thinking...God is good and will see me through this.

I am thankful for... my 5 month old is feeling better.

I am wearing...plaid pj pants, gray t shirt, blue slippers
I am remembering...
I am going...to be dealing with plumbers & contractors in and out of our place this week. Replacing our master bathroom floor and toilet.
I am currently reading...a Women of Faith novel, A Lady Like Sarah by Margaret Brownley

I am hoping... to visit the nearby Mennonite community stores. Needing to replenish my spices.

On my mind...a friend who lost her mother-in-law this past weekend.

Noticing that...I dont mind the new look of facebook that everyone seems to be complaining about.

Pondering these words... "Preventive Parenting provides a much more peaceful environment in our homes. It allows us to work on the discipline issues that are really crucial--and to ward off punishment, etc. for situations that can be handled ahead of time, rather than the heat of the moment. As an added bonus, Preventive Parenting teaches our kids how to solve problems, come up with options, get a handle on things before they become too big, etc. as they watch us model these skills for them." http://positiveparenting3-6-5.blogspot.com/

From the kitchen... greasy cheeseburgers, pickles, green beans, potato chips

Around the house... pillow fights...guitar playing...

One of my favorite things...quiet moments.

From my picture journal...Logan tromping thru the snow -

28 days...

28 days. To cleanliness. To order. 28 days to one happy mamma!
Laura over at Org Junkie is hosting a 28 day organization challenge. For a chance at some awesome prizes, all I have to do is....spend the next 28 days organizing my mess :(

I feel like the entire house is desperate for a makeover. But I am selecting our master bedroom for the whole space catagory and my office corner for small space catagory. Sadly, I am required to post some before pictures as well as after. I must swallow my home-maker pride and be authentic.

better get on it....

Monday's menu plan

Wow, its hard to believe that 2010 is 1/12 over! January really seemed to fly by. Now here it is, the first day of Feb....and a monday. Would be easy to feel blah right now. Why does Feb just have blah written all over it?? But...I am refusing those mid-winter blues!
I am excited about this weeks menu planning. Its Super Bowl week, which means yummy snack foods!

Monday: Chicken & dumplings, peas

Tuesday: MOPS - having super-bowl themed food since we are having a Dad-Panel. My very own Man will be participating ;-) I haven't settled, but am thinking an old family favorite -
Krout Burgers.

Wednesday: Crock-pot Night - Dirty Rice & hominy

Thursday: Salisbury Steak, buttered noodles, spinach

Friday: Family Night - homemade pizza, movie or games

Saturday: Chipotle Mac & Cheese...a yummy new cassarole recipe I can't wait to try. Has chorizo in it. Recipe to follow next week if its good.

Sunday: Super Bowl Sunday - to be decided....think I will do a poll on my facebookpage :)

Don't you just love this picture? I want a stove like that! Something like the gorgeous red range they used on Extreme Makeover Home Edition last night. It was love at first sight! Time to start saving my pennies.
They even have a wood-burning one. http://www.elmirastoveworks.com/

Isn't it just calling your name?! Makes me want to start rolling out pie dough, mixing up some biscuits, kneading some bread.....Oh My! And of course the tea kettle on top is A MUST!

LOVE that table too :)

Don't forget to check out orgjunkie.com for more menu planning ideas. Over three hundred blogs listed already. I think I listed at #344.
And leave me a comment....let me know what you think about my red range :)

Monday's Simple Woman's Daybook

For today - Jan 11th 2010

Outside my window... was a much nicer & warmer day than what we've had last week! 37 degrees this afternoon instead of 5. The snow is melting and the cars need washed.

I am thinking... how beautiful the snow has been :) in spite of the below zero temps. People just need to know how to dress for the season and to thrive wherever they're at.

I am thankful for... chapstick!

I am wearing... warm flannel jammies and silky red slippers

I am remembering... how nice it is to blog and plan and be organized. Goal for this new year is to get on top of this better.

I am going... to meet some sweet ladies for coffee tommorrow...at our local McDonalds since it has a indoor playland for our wee ones.

I am currently reading... getting ready to start a new parenting book and Bev Lewis' The Missing.

I am hoping... Logan really grasps the idea of going #2 inside the stool this week :(

On my mind... that ripping a fingernail off takes precidence over every other thought on your mind. ooeeeeeeeee

Noticing that... everyone else is in their warm & toasty beds! I want to be warm & toasty too!

Pondering these words... "God, help me treasure each moment for its own sake."

From the kitchen... Fred's b'day dinner pot & pans that wouldnt fit in the dishwasher. And a big tray of huge cinnamon rolls that a dear lady brought by.

Around the house... baby rattles, burp rags, remote control cars, stray crayons.

One of my favorite things...bosom buddies. No distance or time ever can seperate that bond of friendship.

From my picture journal...

Join me in journaling about this new year. Visit Peggy's blog to start your own Simple Woman's Daybook.

Weekly Menu Plan

This week's menu....as planned by a six year old :)

Mon - today was my husband's birthday. We actually had steaks, fried potatoes, gravy, corn on the cob, homemade sourdough bread...but as you can see, the highlight was "cake".
Tues - Hoping to try a new nacho recipe that I saw a friend make. All pile up on a huge platter. Oooey gooey sauce. I'll post it later.
Wed -Catalina Cranberry Chicken, rice, salad
Thur - She says spaghetti...I'm thinking probably leftovers
Fri - our Family Night - homemade pizza and a movie or games
Sat - we have recently started enjoying the lazy saturday brunch tradition. don't know how often it will work, but its been very nice :)
Sun - Salami Sub with Olive Salad....a new recipe
I know I usually post my recipes and a nicer plan, I will post these later in the week (if they're good) Trying to get back into the routine of things. A new year!
