Menu Plan Monday


I will not be posting a menu this week. Our family is under-going a major overhaul where food & diet is concerned. Weight-loss and a healthier lifestyle has been needed for some time.
And if not NOW, when??
We started following the Michael Thurman Six Week Body Makeover food plan. We've done it before and know that it works well for us.
Then as our bodies become a little more adjusted to the food shock and detox, we plan on adding the P90x workouts.
So this week is all about changes. Making investment-based decisions for a longer healthier lifestyle. We will be trying out diff foods and coming up with some better recipes that fit our needs.
Look for my Meal Plan back next week!! In the meantime, watch for....

Homemade Microwave Popcorn


I don't know why this never occured to me before! But just the other day I stumbled across this idea at Make & Takes...Which is an awesome blog, by the way. In case you're like me and dream of having time to just read blogs all day :)



A brown paper lunch sack and 1/4 cup popcorn kernels




Fold the end over a couple times and tape down.
Microwave (folded side up) for 2 to 3 minutes...or until there is 5 seconds between pops







And then ENJOY!!!


How easy is that?! You save $ on popcorn/packaging, and you provide you family with a healthy low (or no) sodium snack!

Simple Woman's Daybook


For TODAY ~ Flag Day ~ June 14th 2010




Outside my window...is a humid summer day.


I am thinking...about fixing an iced coffee.


I am thankful for...


From the kitchen...my husband's latest attempt at a secret bbq sauce is melding in the fridge. He'll be using it tonight with some pork steaks on the grill.


I am wearing...brown shorts and a green & brown tank top


I am creating...havoc? Does that count?


I am going...to take the kids to the park in a bit. Logan has a new Ironman kite to fly and Ashleigh a new butterfly net.


I am reading..."The Telling" by Beverly Lewis. The newest 3rd book in her Seasons of Grace series. I'm not a huge Bev Lewis fan but was a great series!






I am hoping...my children quickly catch on to the "NO STRIFE" rule :(


I am hearing...my children fighting upstairs...through the baby monitor. They have no idea I can hear them.


Around the house...laundry and more laundry :(


One of my favorite things...old wooden screen doors! Here is my new favorite pantry idea...




A few plans for the rest of the week: kids are attending VBS every evening this week, I plan on having some quiet evenings at home with my husband...and Keira. Have Wonders of Wildlife show at the library summer program tomorrow. Getting the house ready for my Illinois family coming down this weekend.

Monday's Menu Plan

My husband has decided to once again work on perfecting a secret bbq sauce recipe. Which means we will be grilling and bbqing a lot this summer, I'm sure!

NOT that I'm complaining!




Monday:
Pork steaks with bbq sauce #1, and trying a new recipe Neely's Twice Baked Potatoes


Tuesday: who knows! I can't seem to come with something else. Any ideas?? What are you having tuesday?

Wednesday: leftovers

Thursday: Grilled chicken breasts with bbq sauce#2, and Grilled Corn with Chive Butter

Friday: Homemade pizza...followed up with the kids' VBS program

Saturday: time for our church fellowship group again. Think I will make a salad...with leaf lettuce, chicken, black olives, balsamic dressing, feta cheese...

Sunday: my Illinois fam will be coming down this weekend...and we'll go cook out at my little sis's house, for Father's Day and our brother's 40th birthday!
So far, I'm going to make Black Bean & Avacado Salsa....and a new recipe for Cookies n Cream Cupcakes.

Of course, then I see this picnic picture and think "mmm...homemade ice cream would be really good too"!
